An anonymous tip received by Oakdale Police led officers to the Sonora area Tuesday, Feb. 1 to recover a 2004 Chevy truck that had been reported stolen 10 days ago in a residential burglary on River Bluff Drive that may be connected to the armed robbery that occurred at Cost Less Market Sunday evening, Jan. 30 around 10:40 p.m. where the bandits made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The truck had been reported stolen along with several guns, however the link between the burglary and the armed robbery has not been positively established, cautioned police.

Two men walked into Cost Less Market in the 800 block of North Yosemite Avenue wearing ski masks and robbed the cash registers at gunpoint.

According to police reports, a 911 call was received from a person who stated an armed robbery had occurred. Witnesses told police that two suspects walked into the store with their faces covered and one brandished a chrome handgun, ordering the clerks to put their cash register tills in the bag. The second suspect held the bag while the clerks placed the money inside. The suspects fled in a white Chevy truck with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police have reason to suspect that the perpetrators, described as 6 foot 1 with a thin build and 5 foot 7 with a stocky build, have local history but no longer live in the area. They are considered armed and dangerous. Citizens should not attempt to apprehend the suspects on their own.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information in regards to this case is urged to call Det. Shimmel at the Oakdale Police Department at 847-2231.
