Oakdale Police made an early morning arrest following a late night business break-in.

On Monday, Dec. 18 at around 11 p.m., a citizen contacted Oakdale Police to report a possible break-in at the Pit Stop Auto Lube, in the 1500 block of East F Street.

Officers responded and found broken glass and damage to the front door of the business. It was determined cash had been taken from the business and the suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

“Officers reviewed video surveillance, collected evidence and developed leads during the night,” said Lt Joe Carrillo. “As a result of some good old fashioned police work, Wade Taylor, 30 years of age, was tracked down to his Oakdale residence and arrested.”

Taylor is on Stanislaus County Probation for prior convictions involving drugs and theft. Police said he was charged with alleged violations including Burglary and Probation Violation and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.

Police ask anyone with any further information regarding this incident to contact Detective Don Stilwell at (209) 847-2231.

Authorities noted that burglaries are down 43 percent in the City of Oakdale, year to date, with 89 burglary incidents occurring this year, from January to November, compared to 156 cases of burglary occurring during the same time period last year. Police attribute some of the decreases in overall crime to be a result of increased community awareness and reporting, coupled with stepped up police enforcement efforts.
