Police recently arrested three Oakdale men suspected of robbing the Costless Market at 800 N. Yosemite Ave. in Oakdale on Jan. 30.
Previously, The Oakdale Leader had reported that two men walked into Costless Market wearing ski masks and robbed the cash registers at gunpoint.
According to police reports, a 911 call was received from a person who stated an armed robbery had occurred. Witnesses told police that two suspects walked into the store with their faces covered and one brandished a chrome handgun, ordering the clerks to put their cash register tills in the bag. The second suspect held the bag while the clerks placed the money inside. The suspects fled in a white Chevy truck with an undisclosed amount of cash.
An anonymous tip received by Oakdale Police led officers to the Sonora area Tuesday, Feb. 1 to recover a 2004 Chevy truck that had been reported stolen in a residential burglary on River Bluff Drive that they suspected may have been used in the robbery. The truck had been reported stolen along with several guns.
After an exhaustive investigation by Master Officer Mike Walsh, Josh Johnson, 28; Russell Middleton, 37; and Vincent Ellis, 48, were all arrested in connection with the robbery. One suspect remains at large and is being sought by the Oakdale Police Department.
