The Napa County Board of Supervisors, after a competitive interview process, announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26 that they have appointed Oakdale High School Class of 1979 graduate Greg Clark as Agriculture Commissioner/Sealer of Weights and Measures for Napa County. The department has 32 employees and a budget of $ 5.3 million.

The appointment is effective Dec. 28 and expires on Dec. 28, 2017. Clark will replace long time Commissioner Dave Whitmer, who is retiring at the end of December.

Clark, who grew up in Oakdale and is the son of Oakdale residents Frank and Marilyn Clark, joined the Napa County Agriculture Commissioners Office in 2000 as the Assistant Agriculture Commissioner/Sealer of Weights and Measures, where he has been responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Department’s budget, programs, operations and personnel, as well as being on the front lines of the industry’s efforts to manage pests and agriculture disease. Before joining Napa County, Clark was the assistant Agriculture Commissioner in Stanislaus County and an Agriculture Biologist in Santa Clara County.

Clark has a Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture from CSU Fresno and a Masters degree in Public Administration from San Jose State University. He and his wife Lisa have twin 19-year-old sons who are attending Napa Valley College in Napa.
