The Oakdale Leo Club is a youth organization created by the Oakdale Lions Club in partnership with the Family Support Network. The club focuses on Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity (L.E.O.) with membership coming from 12- to 18-year-olds in the Oakdale community.

Gary Leo, a Lion’s Club member from Merced, currently oversees three Leo Clubs with almost 200 youth members between them all. Due to his experience, he was able to provide enough information to assist the Oakdale Lions Club in starting a local Leo Club for the area’s youth.

The next Oakdale Leo Club meeting date has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Family Support Network, 1405 W. F St., Ste. A in Oakdale.

The date was changed because of the National Night Out observance on Aug. 1, an event in which the Family Support Network took part.

Staff members were at the Burchell Hill event, hosting an info table on Oak Valley Hospital District and the various Family Support Network programs and services, as well as offering face painting.

For more information on Leo Club, contact Family Support Network Executive Director Karen O’Bannon at 209-847-5121. All interested in learning more about the Leo Club are encouraged to attend the Aug. 15 meeting.
