Reporter, Sierra 4-H

From its humble beginnings in Ohio in 1902, 4-H has grown into a thriving organization of seven million members in 50 countries around the world. In Oakdale, there are four 4-H groups: Sierra, Orange Blossom, River Oaks, and Valley Home. There are a total of 23 4-H clubs in Stanislaus County.

National 4-H week, October 7 - 13, is an opportunity to shine a light on all the great things 4-H has to offer. 4-H members can participate in a wide variety of projects; 4-H isn’t all about animals. Besides raising animals, members can learn about sewing, woodworking, horticulture, trap shooting, and small engines, just to name a few activities. In 4-H, kids can learn valuable life skills such as time management, responsibility, perseverance, and how to work well with others.
