Taking on the challenge to read books, just for fun and not for homework, the Oakdale Library recently announced its winners from its Summer Reading Challenge. Winners were Martin Paredes, 5; Jayleen Lopez, 10; Adrian Sanchez, 12; and Candy Penunuri, 12.

Officials said it was a very successful summer at the Oakdale Library. The children and teenagers of Oakdale read for more than 6,867 hours to earn prizes and enter drawings for even more prizes. The Friends of the Oakdale Library donated the four bikes as grand prizes for kids 18 and under.
