Preschool Story Time and Wiggle Worms continue through February.
Preschool Story Time is every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Books, flannel board stories, finger play, and music, geared for preschoolers, ages 3-6 and caregivers.
Wiggle Worms Story Time is now twice each Wednesday, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.; enjoy stories, music, dancing, rhythm activities, and finger play at this special program perfect for ages 0 to 3, and their caregivers.
Computer Classes for adults are back. Learn the basics of computer and internet in this small personal setting. Classes will be offered on Tuesday mornings, Feb. 6, 13, and 20, all starting at 10:30 a.m. Call the Library at 209-847-4204 for info and be sure to reserve your space. Each session is limited to four people.
“Help Make a Senior Smile!” Children have the power to lift the spirits of older adults one card at a time. Make a Valentine’s Day card with a warm greeting for residents of local senior facilities. We have all the necessary materials to make special cards; kids just add the joy and love. This will be ongoing for the first two weeks of February.
Also, everyone will enjoy our Valentine Guessing Jar from Feb. 5 through 10. Make the closest guess and win a sweet prize.
Wee Move And Play program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Monday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. Parents can help their children learn social skills and have fun at the same time.
Teen Book Club is back. Come share your favorite book this month and make a tasty “Lollipop Flower Craft” just in time for Valentine’s Day! This is just for teens so maybe you can make several. Join in on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m.
The Children’s Craft will keep with the Valentine theme by painting and decorating “Salt Dough Hearts” for that someone special or yourself. We will provide everything you need to fashion a personal and beautiful heart. The creativity will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
The library will have two Lego Days this month. Kids can create their own masterpieces using the library’s Lego collection. The building fun begins at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 14 and 28.
Celebrate the fun characters of author Mo Willems at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12. Listen to a story, do a simple fun craft, and find Pigeon, Piggie, and Gerald hiding, to get a small prize. Children of all ages welcome.
Bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. We’ll be “rockin’ out” to some of our favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps, a Mexican Hat Dance.
Calling all “Little Scientists!” Let’s get excited about science in this special program designed for children from kindergarten and up. We will listen to a book and then explore science with fun and interesting hands-on activities. The “science lab” will be open Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 3:30 p.m. Please sign up in advance at our desk or by calling 209-847-4204 because some materials may be limited.
Our regular Library Book Club will be reading a monthly selection and then meeting to discuss and share on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 11:30 a.m. You can pick up a copy of this month’s book at the Library and join in. New members are always welcome.
The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of many of our programs and prizes. They are preparing for their annual Book Sale, coming soon.
