We will have LEGO days every Friday in October. Kids can create their own masterpieces using our fabulous Lego collection and we will display these great works in the Library. The building fun begins at 3 p.m.

Also, on Friday, Oct. 6, the Oakdale Library will be joining in the Oakdale Community Block Party “Resource Round-up.” This will take place by the Oakdale Family Resource Center at 631 W. F St. There will be music, activities, and fun for the whole family. This event is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Call 847-0420 for more info.

One of our most popular programs will be returning for two presentations on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Python Ron’s Reptile Kingdom will be at the Oakdale Library at 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. for a creepy crawly good time! Don’t miss this educational hands-on show-and-tell featuring lizards, snakes, and more.

We will have a Tween/Teen/Adult Craft at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Join us as we turn colorful duct tape into bookmarks, wallets, or anything you can imagine. We’ll supply the materials, you bring the creativity!

Our “Children’s Craft” will be Thursday, Oct. 12, at 3:30 p.m. So easy to make it’s … scary! Make a “sweet” ghost, using a lollipop and coffee filter. Children can also try to guess what’s in the Mystery Box. How does it feel? What could it be? Enjoy this special activity and join us for some fun.

Our Wee Move And Play program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Monday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. Parents can help their children learn social skills and have fun at the same time.

Teen Book Club – Oakdale Library has a new book club, for teens only. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends, as well as read and discover new books and authors. Pick up a copy of the current selection: “The Girl From the Well,” at the Library now, then come and add your ideas to the discussion on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served and this month there will also be a surprise teen craft.

Please bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. We’ll be “rockin’ out” to some of our favorite Story Time music as well as trying the Hula, the Twist, or perhaps, a Mexican Hat Dance.

Our regular Library Book Club will be reading “A Man Called Ove,” and then meeting to discuss and share on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 11:30 a.m. You can sign out a copy at the Library and join in. New members are always welcome.

On Thursday, Oct. 26, at 3:30 p.m., children can make “Ooey, Gooey Orange Slime” and decorate a mini “pumpkin” to celebrate the season! Also, take a guess all week long at how many items are in our Autumn Guessing Jar. You might win a prize!

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of so many of our programs and prizes. They constantly promote and encourage the great gift of literacy at all levels for everyone. The Friends will hold their monthly meeting on Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. Forms to join and info are available at the Oakdale Library, or call 847-4204.
