Preschool Story Time and Wiggle Worms will be off-session in August and resume in September, 2017.

The Teen/Adult Craft for August will be “Perler Bead Art.” Make unique projects when you iron together multiple beads, melting them to create fun patterns and designs. This craft begins at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Computer Classes for adults will be offered Aug. 15 and 29, at 10:30 a.m. Learn the basics of computer and internet in this small personal setting. Please call the Library for info and be sure to reserve your space. Each session is limited to four people. Call 847-4204.

LEGO DAYS are scheduled every Friday in August. Kids can join in to create their own masterpieces using the library’s Lego collection and we will display these great works in the Library. The building fun begins at 3 p.m.

Please bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. We’ll be “rockin’ out” to some of our favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps, a Mexican Hat Dance!

Our regular Library Book Club will be reading “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” and then meeting to discuss and share on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 11:30 a.m. You can sign out a copy at the Library and join in. New members are always welcome.

Teen Book Club – just for teens to read, think, discuss, or share. Join us at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 24. Pick up a copy of the current selection: “The House of the Scorpion,” at the Oakdale Library now. Then come and add your ideas to the discussion, and enjoy a snack at the same time.

Our Wee Move And Play program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Monday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. Parents can help their children learn social skills and have fun at the same time.

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of so many of our programs and prizes, for example the wonderful bicycles given as prizes in our kids Summer Reading Program and the great gift baskets and gift cards to Oakdale eateries given in our Adult Summer Reading Program. They constantly promote and encourage the great gift of literacy at all levels for everyone. The Friends of the Oakdale Library will hold their monthly meeting on Aug. 28, at 1:30 p.m. Forms to join and info are available at the Oakdale Library, or call 847-4204.
