Football Championship Season Recognized With Milk Carton
Pour It On
Championship milk cartons including one saluting the State Champion Oakdale Mustangs football team can now be found at a variety of grocery and convenience stores serviced by Crystal Creamery.

The next time Oakdale residents purchase their milk they will be pleasantly surprised to find their favorite local football team, Oakdale High School, honored on special commemorative Crystal Creamery milk cartons. The school’s first state championship was recognized on Monday as Crystal Creamery unveiled a new milk carton recognizing the Mustangs’ amazing season which are now on sale throughout Northern California.

“We, at Crystal Creamery, are proud to recognize the hard work and sacrifice put forth by Coach Trent Merzon and his staff, each player and the players’ families,” said Frank Otis, Crystal Creamery’s President and CEO. “Every Section champion is honored but only the State Champion is recognized with their own carton and we are very happy to produce this for the entire Oakdale community.”

As a sponsor of the Sac-Joaquin Section of the California Interscholastic Federation, Crystal Creamery features Section Champions for boys and girls sports teams from fall, winter and spring sports to honor the success of the student athletes. These new cartons mark a milestone for Crystal Creamery as the company has now honored more than 100 Sac-Joaquin Section Champions in similar fashion.

This year, Crystal Creamery also announced the establishment of a new Good Sportsmanship Award which was presented to Del Campo and East Union’s football teams for showcasing outstanding sportsmanship and competing with honor in their Division III Section Playoff game.

Both teams are recognized on a commemorative milk carton for “Vinny for the Touchdown” in which Vinny Torrice, a senior at East Union High School with Down syndrome, made his first appearance in a game. He took the handoff, ran to his right and cut up field 27 yards to the end zone escorted by members of both teams who celebrated his touchdown. Each athletic season, Crystal Creamery will recognize a Good Sport for that season.

Crystal Creamery, founded in 1901, believes high school sports are critically important to the development of young men and women as the lessons they learn and experiences they receive will remain with them throughout their lives.

In addition to Oakdale’s State Championship milk carton and the new Good Sportsmanship milk carton, cartons recognizing Section Champions St. Mary’s, Del Oro, Manteca, Capital Christian and Amador are also be available for sale. The football champion cartons can be found for a limited time at a variety of grocery and convenience stores including Nugget Market, O’Brien’s Market, Cost Less, PAQ Quinn, Wal-Mart, Raley’s and the Stockton Food-4-Less.
