Magnolia Elementary fifth graders were recently treated to a field trip to the San Jose Tech Museum.

According to fifth grade teacher Kelly Benbow it is the fifth year that the school has been able to take advantage of the opportunity to take the trip with the students.

“The field trip is funded through parent donations and Magnolia’s PTC,” Benbow said, noting the school’s Title 1 status gains them free admission and the IMAX movie for a very low cost.

So as to make it in time for the 10 a.m. IMAX movie, close to 100 students, along with teachers and chaperones loaded the buses well before the school day started and headed to San Jose. Following the movie showing all students were able to tour the museum in small groups.

“The tech museum is always well liked by students and parents,” Benbow said. “The tech museum also offers labs on physics, engineering, chemistry, etcetera, which we normally do, but because of time constraints we did not get to this year.”
