Festival Of Trees

The Oakdale Garden Club will host its Annual Festival of Trees event on Friday, Nov. 24 in Clarence Wood Park. The Lighting of the Tree ceremony marks the beginning of the Holiday Season and will begin at 4:30 p.m. Each of the decorated trees is sponsored by local businesses, families or service groups. This year’s event will include a visit by Buddy the Elf, photo opportunities and members of Oakdale Police Department SWAT team. Cookies and cider will be served.

 

Holiday Fundraiser

Soroptimist International of Oakdale will host its annual Holiday Luncheon and Silent Auction fundraiser on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. A delicious lunch will be served as guests bid on holiday-themed items, baskets, and baked items that are ready for gift giving. Tickets are $15 in advance. Women’s Club Luncheon

The Oakdale Women’s Club monthly luncheon will be hosted on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from noon to 2 p.m. The meeting will be hosted at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, 243 N. Stearns Road, Oakdale. A celebration of Christmas will be the theme for this month’s event. Members are encouraged to bring stockings filled with items for children ranging in age from toddlers to 18 years of age. Gifts will be donated to Family Support Network. Buffet luncheon will be served at $16 per person.

 

Holiday Music

The Texas Tenors have a new album called Rise that dropped in September and all the proceeds from the new single “Rise” will benefit the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. They will kick off the holiday season in Modesto at the Gallo Center for the Arts on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. with their “Deep in the Heart of Christmas” performance. The trio of JC Fisher, Marcus Collins and John Hagen make up the unique blend of harmonies known as the Texas Tenors. This will be the Texas Tenors’ second appearance in Modesto as they performed last year and this year will be their first Christmas concert in the local area.

 

Wreath Workshop

Christmas in Grandpa’s Barn will be offered Dec. 1 through 3 and Dec. 8 through 10 at 17693 Enterprise Road in Escalon. There will be vendors on hand, food, music, holiday specials and more. Also planned, Farmgirl Workshops will be offered by Lorina’s Edible Garden at 17693 Enterprise Road, Escalon, on a couple of different upcoming dates. This special Holiday Wreath Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24 and Sunday, Dec. 10 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at a cost of $45 per person (discount for five or more). Come learn how to craft a beautiful fresh wreath with Teacher Heidi. Refreshments will be served to enhance your experience. TOPS Session

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Oakdale hosts meetings every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, 1480 Poplar St., Oakdale and are open to the community. For additional information call Chuck Berber at (650) 279-5310.

 

Toastmasters Gather

 

The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 29.
