The popular Haunted Hayride returns to Jacob Myers Park in Riverbank this weekend, the first of two special activities being put on through the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Dates for the hayride are Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24, running from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night at the park, 23655 South Santa Fe. Hayride prices are $15 for adults; children ages 4 to 12, $10; and children three and under attending are admitted free but must be seated on the lap of an adult.
Some of the scare sites along the haunted hayride may be too intense for young children so parents are asked to plan accordingly.
The Haunted Hayride has been a Halloween staple in Riverbank for several years, and there are special prizes awarded to the top three scare sites. The event is typically hosted the weekend before Halloween, helping get everyone into the mood of the holiday.
Also on the schedule, the annual Dia de Los Muertos Celebration, which will be hosted at the Plaza del Rio in Riverbank, with altars honoring those who have passed. The ‘Day of the Dead’ event will be staged on Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. downtown and it is open to all interested; no charge to attend.
