Accordion Club Meets

All are welcome to attend the upcoming accordion music and social on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The gathering will be hosted at the Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave., and will be the regular monthly meeting of the Good Time Accordion Club. Blue Star Session

The Mid-Cal Blue Star Moms are getting ready to ship care packages overseas to the troops; the organization will meet on Thursday night, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. at Mt. Mike’s in Escalon to discuss the project and all are welcome to attend. Members come from several Central Valley communities.

 

Garden Club Tour

The Oakdale Garden Club will enjoy a fun-filled tour of area sites on Tuesday, Nov. 14. The group will travel to Hughson’s Duarte Nursery, as well as Sciabica Olive Oil plant, Modesto. Persons interested in joining the group tour should meet at the parking area of Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale at 9:15 a.m. Group will depart promptly at 9:30 a.m. For more information call Karen Barajas at (209) 848-2231 by Friday, Nov. 10.

 

Holiday Craft Fair

Come get some holiday shopping started at the Craft Fair hosted at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish Center, 55 Oak Ave., Oakdale. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Many booths will feature handmade items, along with an assortment of toys, quilts, jewelry and commercial vendors, baked goods, and food. There will also be holiday photos by Hudson Photography, including pictures with Santa; photos are offered at $5 each and are ready in an hour. The craft fair is sponsored by the YLI, Young Ladies Institute, Mater Christi #140.

 

St. Patrick’s Event

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is hosting its Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. The fair will be hosted at the Church Hall, 19399 E. Highway 120, Ripon, on Highway 120 between Escalon and Ripon. Goal of the craft fair is to raise funds for St. Vincent de Paul and needy residents in the area. Come see the variety of craft and holiday-themed items, make some purchases and support the mission of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

 

TOPS Session

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Oakdale hosts meetings every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, 1480 Poplar St., Oakdale and are open to the community. For additional information call Chuck Berber at (650) 279-5310.

 

FFA Game Night

Oakdale High School FFA will host its 11th Annual Game Night on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Gene Bianchi Community Center. Dream Award Offered

 

Local service organization Soroptimist International of Oakdale is accepting applications for its annual Live Your Dream Award. Each year, the program provides cash grants to head-of-household women so they can achieve their career goals by completing their education or job training. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program. Soroptimist International of Oakdale will present a $1,000 cash award through the program. To request an application, contact Suzette Titus at 209-602-6562 or Diane Ott at 209-614-8451. Applications must be received by Nov. 15.
