Young Eagles Day

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will host its annual Young Eagles Event on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be hosted at Oakdale Airport, 8189 Laughlin Road, Oakdale. Children ages seven to 18 will be offered free flights. Parent or guardian signature is required. For additional information, call Bill at (209) 652-2237.

 

Class Reunion Set

Oakdale High School Class of ’57 will host its 60th Class Reunion on Saturday, Oct. 21. The event will be hosted at Oakdale Golf and Country Club, 243 N. Stearns Road, Oakdale. Happy hour begins at 1 p.m. and a buffet lunch offered at 2 p.m. Menu to include salad bar, bread, and a choice of Chicken Piccata or Tri-tip entrée, as well as dessert. Price is $30 per person. Fall Art Show

Oak Valley Art Society is planning its annual Fall Art Show at the Escalon Library on Second Street, Escalon, on Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22. Show hours Saturday are noon to 5 p.m.; Sunday hours are noon to 3 p.m. A reception with the artists, including refreshments and awards is scheduled on Sunday, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. It is a member show, but anyone interested in joining the Oak Valley Art Society may call Evelyn Cooper at 209 838-3095. A variety of art work, in multiple mediums, and also including photography, will be on display. All are welcome; no fee to attend.

 

AAUW Fundraiser

Soar like an eagle to raise funds for the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Oakdale-Riverbank-Escalon Branch’s Tech Trek, Speech Trek, Scholarships and fund programs that tie into AAUW’s goals of helping women and girls reach their full potential. Plan to attend AAUW, ORE’s Fall Fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Center, 110 S. Second Ave., in Oakdale. Donations for the fundraiser are $25 per person. Tickets are available from any Oakdale-Riverbank-Escalon (ORE) member of AAUW or by emailing the branch at AAUW.ORE@gmail.com. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

 

Swiss Echoes

 

The San Joaquin Valley Swiss Echoes, a singing and yodeling club in Ripon since 1947, is having its annual fall concert and dance on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Swiss Hall in Ripon, on the corner of Manley and East Main streets. A fun-filled Cabaret Night with a “ride” on the SBB (“Schweizerische Bundesbahnen” or Swiss federal railways) is sure to be the highlight of the evening. You will hear a variety of folk songs and yodels. Admission to the concert and dance is $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
