City of Oakdale Public Services crews have been out in force the past couple of days getting started on a major improvement project along South Yosemite Avenue.

The work started with tree trimming and removal of overhanging limbs on Monday, Oct. 16. The project is expected to continue through mid-November and includes the closure of South Yosemite Avenue between F and J streets, a major thoroughfare in the city.

City officials said the Surface Improvement construction activities are projected to last through Nov. 13, depending on weather and other factors.

During the construction work and improvement project, the South Yosemite Avenue location will have limited access and be closed to thru traffic. Starbucks on East F Street, which has its drive through exiting on to South Yosemite, said they would be allowed to have access to one lane – which can quickly turn back into the parking lot and then exit out on South Third Avenue, away from the project area.

Signs indicating the closure have been put up and some routes have also been classified as ‘no truck’ routes during the course of the construction.

This is a 24-hour per day road closure.
