Center for Human Services (CHS) Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will host the Seventh Annual Community Block Party on Friday, Oct. 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 631 W. F St., Oakdale. This family-friendly event focuses on providing information, connections and fun activities to residents in Oakdale and neighboring communities. Dozens of organizations will share their resources as well as free food, music, a photo booth, giveaways and face painting. CHS - Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center will also host a free market that will include books, clothing and household items.

“I hope everyone has fun at the block party and resource round-up taking photos, eating and getting to know more about our community,” said Tamberly Stone, the CHS - Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center Coordinator. “We’re here to provide a friendly and helpful one-stop shop for eastside residents and this block party is a simple way to learn about all our services.”

In 2011, Center for Human Services opened the Oakdale Family Resource and Counseling Center to provide various prevention, education, counseling and family resource services for youth, families and individuals from Oakdale, Riverbank and the surrounding areas. Services include: pregnancy support and education, school readiness for preschool age children, parent cafés, utility and crisis assistance, drug and alcohol treatment groups for youth and adults, support groups, and behavioral health counseling. The bilingual staff broadens the scope of people served and most of the services are offered at no cost to recipients.
