The Columbia College Automotive Technology Program’s five week Team Managed Projects class will begin on Monday, July 15. This course is designed to strengthen problem solving skills through teamwork and by using the total quality management (TQM) process. Problem solving is an everyday event. The TQM process allows for thoughtful decision making for just about any problem and by anyone. All skills levels come together to engage in this dynamic process. Projects are automotive based. There is still availability, but those interested are encouraged to enroll immediately. The class meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 8a.m.-1:35p.m. through Wednesday, Aug. 14. For more information, call program coordinator Erik Andal at 588-5200.

As the cars we drive become more efficient, streamlined, and technologically advanced, so too must the people who repair, maintain, and service those cars for a living. As computerized engine control systems now control modern vehicles’ essential functions, today’s automotive technician must be fully trained to service these new and advanced automobiles. The automotive industry is increasingly in need of qualified technicians – as technology increases, so too will the demand for those who can operate it.

Columbia College’s Automotive Technology program is nationally accredited with the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). At Columbia College, the staff are ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified, credentialed to teach by the State of California, and are licensed by the state’s Bureau of Automotive Repair. The staff also has years of combined real-world experience in the industry, so students can rest assured that they’ll be receiving the best education and preparation for a job in automotive technology.
