Police Recognize Subject Wearing Same Clothes Following Night

Police used store video to identify Pierce Ross, 18, of Oakdale, in this 7-11 robbery.

After obtaining video footage of two Friday, Oct. 4 early morning robberies, Oakdale Police were able to identify the suspect and make an arrest shortly after midnight on Saturday, Oct. 5.

At 3:07 a.m., the previous night, police units responded to the 7-11 store located on the 700 block of East F Street when the store clerk called 9-1-1 to report a subject attempted to rob the store at gunpoint. Eight minutes later the clerk from the 7-11 store on the west end of the city in the 1100 block of West F Street reported the store had just been robbed and the suspect bolted after obtaining an unknown amount of cash.

At 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, Oakdale Police Officer Rocky Anderson contacted two male subjects at the intersection of West F Street. and Davitt Avenue.  Sergeant Joseph Carrillo responded to assist and recognized the clothing of one of the subjects was wearing as the being similar to the clothing of the suspect in the armed robbery video footage and witness statements. 

During their investigation and interview, the officers obtained a confession from the suspect leading to the arrest of Pierce Ross, 18, of Oakdale.

Ross was booked into Stanislaus County Jail for both robberies and is being held on $100,000 bail.

The other male subject was Ross’ 16-year-old brother who was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and released to his father.
