On the softball diamond, Oakdale played to an 11-1 mark in Valley Oak League play this season. Now, they move on to the playoffs and, putting the VOL campaign behind them, look to make some noise in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 competition.

The Lady Mustangs come in to Tuesday’s home playoff game with a 24-2-1 mark overall. They earned the No. 3 seed in the 16-team bracket and are scheduled to host No. 14 Beyer in a 4 p.m. contest on Tuesday, May 17 in Oakdale.

Quarterfinals are set for May 19, with semifinals on May 24 and the Section finals set for May 28.

First, Oakdale will have to get past Beyer and a win Tuesday would put them in the Thursday quarterfinal game against the winner of today’s No. 6 Manteca – No. 11 Lincoln match.

Oakdale has had plenty of diamond success this year with a combination of strong pitching and timely hitting. Head coach Larry Loger leads the team into the postseason with the ultimate goal of bringing home the Section crown.

The bracket features top seed Vanden followed by No. 2 Central Catholic, Oakdale, Vista del Lago, Ponderosa, Manteca, Merced, Los Banos, Kimball, Ceres, Lincoln, Del Campo, Oakmont, Beyer, Pioneer and Rosemont.
