The River’s Edge is open for Monday Night Football, with tailgate food on the menu. Also, it is open Wednesdays and Fridays at 5 p.m. for dinner. They have a nice salad, soup and beans bar and menu items for your dining pleasure.

The Oakdale Rural Fire Board met in the Ferry last Thursday. The fire department only gets 11 cents on the dollar from property taxes and the State wants to take 8 cents more, leaving the fire department with 3 cents on the dollar! Three firepersons have been let go and brown outs at Station 2 and 3 will be happening starting in October. It looks like a two day a week brown out, but that could change up or down.

As your reporter was taking care of two skunked dogs, I thought the recipe for the de-skunking solution should be printed (again) for others in the same situation. Mix one quart of hydrogen peroxide, 1/3 cup baking soda, and 1 tablespoon liquid dish soap, scrub dog, leave on for a minute or two and then rinse off. Do not apply water first, as water sets the smell. It really works!

Lee and Mary Sue Shearer, daughter Patti Sandoval, daughter Victoria Krippner and son-in-law Scott and grandchildren Alex and Claire Krippner went to Stockton to see the PBR Challenger Bull Riding produced by son, Jeff Shearer. This event allows bull riders to advance to the “big times.” Alex Naccarato had some of his bulls there. Seems the bulls were in good form and tossed off many of the riders. One rider made it to next weeks PBR in Ontario, Ca.
