The world famous Knights Ferry Pumpkin Roll is coming to Main Street on November 1st. This event is always a fun time. The day starts with the I.O.O.F. breakfast, $5 for ham, eggs, pancakes juice and coffee. There will be a craft fair in the clubhouse and on the tennis court (including caramel corn). The Orange Blossom 4-H will have children’s games on the tennis court. The rolling starts at noon for the 5 and under set, with everyone else rolling on the street at 1:00 p.m. Closest to the line gets a trophy. There will be the famous pumpkin rolls, pizza, and tri tip sandwiches for sale. The local shops will be open as will the museum. Come spend the day in the Ferry!

The storm last week sure made a mess of limbs and leaves. Some fences and sheds were blown over. Doris and Ed lost the top of their liquid amber tree. Barbara and Gary Shook had an 80-foot tall oak tree come to rest on their house. Grover Tree Service had to bring a crane to move the pieces. It was a very large tree. The house was all right, just a railing broken. It could have been a lot worse!

It was rattlesnake number 14 for the Noe family; this one was in Randy’s toolbox! He figured out how to get it out and killed it with a hammer.

A small but lively crowd attended the 50’s Dance, sponsored by the Knights Ferry Grammar School Foundation. All enjoyed dancing to the music of DJ Rob Anderson. The limbo contest was won by Barbara Podesto (fun to watch). Shelli Johnson and Jeanie Kistler tied the hula-hoop contest. They just keep on going and going so a tie was declared. Jeanie won last year and Shelli was second so those two are really good! Randy Noe and Cheryl Griffiths won the costume contest (they really looked good). Steve and Jeanie Kistler won the dance contest. Paige Jones won the flying trip over Yosemite and Ruth Ingram won the trip to Hawaii (she was ecstatic). It was a very fun time! Thanks to all who helped make it a success.

There will be a Halloween party at the 50’s Roadhouse October 30th. Elvis will be there! Dinners will stop being served at 7:00 p.m. so the party can begin!

Dick Muniain celebrated his 80th birthday with a trip to Virginia City. He enjoyed all the sights.

The Oakdale Chamber of Commerce sent their Ambassador Committee to the Knights Ferry Boutique to welcome Pam Fondse to the Chamber. They toured around and visited out Museum also.

Michael and Maureen McKibban have returned from a fall trip to New England. First stop on the way was Charlotte, North Carolina where they had tickets to the Senior Men’s Tennis Tournament, which was excellent. They also went to the LeeVine Museum of the New South, a multi-media showcase of the South. Then they went to South Carolina to tour a pre 1864 plantation. Upon arriving in Vermont, the original factory of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream drew them in. They also toured a cider mill and a cheese factory. Michael and Maureen stayed at a Bed and Breakfast while sightseeing. They drove the New Hampshire Scenic highway-in the rain! They saw a lot of fall colors despite the weather. They went to Portland, Maine and drove the coastline, seeing an ancient archeological ruin and Maureen shopped at the LL Bean flagship store. Then it was to Massachusetts to visit daughter Kate and her husband Graeme and see the renovation of their new home. They saw the J.F.K. Presidential Library (impressive) and walked some of the Patriots Walk. The return flight to San Francisco was uneventful but the flight to Modesto was a 6-hour delay! They were glad to get home to their dog!
