On Thursday, May 21, join your favorite locals for dinner at Rick’s for Thankful Thursday. Pulled pork sliders and Cheryl’s special beans are on the menu this week. Dinner will be served from 5pm-8pm and is FREE with the purchase of an adult beverage.

It’s graduation month, and we have a couple special shout-outs for some local graduates!
Breanna Banks, who went to Knights Ferry Elementary, is now graduating from college at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois. Breanna was a student athlete in women’s volleyball and has a degree in Sports Management. Her mom, Kim Banks, and her grandparents, Bob and Michelle Muller, live in Knights Ferry.
Colton Camara is graduating from the 8th grade at Knights Ferry Elementary, and is headed to Oakdale High next year with a special shout-out from his mom, Michelle Malcom Willis, and grandparents Eric and Wendy Feichter.

This coming Monday, May 25, is Memorial Day. I was recently sent an interesting bit of local history from the ever-knowledgeable Carol Davis, a wonderful source for all things Knights Ferry. She shared that the holiday was once known as “Decoration Day,” a time when families would gather to decorate the graves of loved ones in remembrance. In years past, Knights Ferry also honored the occasion with a Homecoming luncheon at the Community Club, for descendants of pioneer families.
