Members of the Oakdale varsity boys golf team took part in the CIF Masters tournament held at The Reserve -Spanos Park in Stockton on Tuesday, May 19.
Head coach Jeremy Fields reported that the Mustangs finished eighth overall on the par 72 course.
“Oakdale finished with a team score of 397. The Jesuit Marauders (Sacramento) finished first with a team score of 359,” Fields said.
Individual scores for Oakdale:
Estuardo Duque - 68
Nik Nalder - 77
Fred Herschbach - 83
Brody Boysen - 84
Easton Thalman - 85
Julian Velazquez - 87
“Estuardo Duque’s four under par saw him tie for the second lowest score of the day with four other players,” Fields explained, adding that three players shot a 67 in the tournament.
However, the round of 68 qualified Duque to enter into a playoff with those four players fighting for three spots to move on to the NorCal Championships.
“Duque carded three consecutive pars, but unfortunately three other individuals made birdies to move on,” Fields said.
The coach added that it “was a tremendous season for the Mustangs Golf team.”
