Lynn Burroughs was celebrating his 65th birthday with dinner at the ‘50s Roadhouse. The Birthday Song was sung by all! Lynn and Barb recently returned from visiting their son, Major Rhett Burroughs and his wife Justine in Leavenworth, Kansas. Rett says to make sure everyone knows he is on the right side of the fence (he is stationed there).

At the meeting of the History and Museum Associates, Winnie Mullins reported that they no longer could run the Ice Cream Parlor because of family matters. The Voortman family will be taking it over with an opening date to be announced. Christmas in Knights Ferry on Dec. 5 was discussed. A permit has been issued for the parade route to go across the covered bridge. There will be craft booths in the Community Clubhouse, breakfast, and the museum will be open.

At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting they discussed the calendar for goals and objectives. The Parent/Teacher Club is selling poinsettias. They are taking preorders for $12 and the delivery date is Friday, Dec. 3. Other fundraisers are the holiday Sees Candy and a Scentsy fundraiser. A big thank you goes out to First Security and Sound for installing the security cameras for the amount of the Safety Grant.

The annual Thanksgiving Feast for the community will be November at 11 a.m. at the clubhouse. The Junior High students of Knights Ferry School put this on every year as a community service. It is a great meal!

There was a very large turnout for the second annual Salmon Festival.
Long lines were at the Lions Club booth selling Salmon dinners and the Orange Blossom 4-H Club selling hot dogs. The KFS Junior High students were selling desserts. Children were painting fish and printing them on T-shirts. Some attendees were learning how to fly fish. There were many booths with information on the river and fish. Ray Patton liked working for Mrs. Holcomb in the fishing booth. He also liked the display of live birds.
The awards ceremony for the children who had their artwork selected for the calendar was at 1 p.m. Knights Ferry students Sage Heckinger, Emma Fallentine, Christion Baker, Aleesha Harden, River McCarthy, Breanna Banks, Shawn Spani, Sydney Crawford, Mitzy Callantes, and Paris Thompson, along with four Oakdale students (Emma Vargas was one, Eric’s granddaughter) received certificates and a goodie bag. It was good to see Kendra (Schlegel) Gemberling with her 4-month-old baby girl Payton.
Dad is Tony Gemberling. She was enjoying the festivities with Sherry Schlegel (Mark was cooking hot dogs) while Payton slept through it all. The weather was great for the Festival and all had a good time.
