The pond at the Dolling’s has had another hatch of a gosling from another pair of geese. Lisa thinks that these are returning geese born last year. At this rate they are going to have to build more islands for nests. The older goslings are getting bigger by the day.

Congratulations to Kaitlin Van Ryn and her RAGE Volleyball Team for winning an American bid for the 15 year old division. The team will compete for an Olympic medal at the Girls Junior National Volleyball Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Way to go!

At the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting last Thursday Dolly Haskell reported that there are new guardrails on the road going up to the school and that paving of Main Street is forthcoming. Jeff Jardine was the speaker. He told of his newspaper experience and talked about the decline of printed words due to computers. He has been in the newspaper business since 1978. He enjoys doing his columns for the Modesto Bee.

Put May 14th on your calendar for the Randy Mandy Band’s fundraiser at the River’s Edge. They will be playing for your dining enjoyment and there will be a silent auction to fund their first album and a tour in June. For those who don’t know, Randy is Randy Russell, 7-8 teacher at Knights Ferry School, and Amanda Wright is Mandy. They are a hot duo!

If you want to see Lee and Mary Sue Shearer in costume, turn on “California Gold” on Thursday, May 12th on channel 6 at 8:30 p.m. or Tuesday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. Huell will be looking for old wood!

Michael and Maureen McKibban have returned from Ashland, Oregon, where they attended the Shakespeare Festival. They saw three plays, one by Moliere and two by Shakespeare. They were set in modern times and were interactive with the audience. Michael and Maureen had a great time and had purchased their tickets at the KFS Silent Auction.

Tonight, May 11th the field at Knights Ferry School will be divided into squares for Bovine Bingo, and there is a spaghetti dinner and talent show going on also.
