The mountain lion was sighted again, this time Bryce Hobbs, son of Bridgette and Dusty, was walking the dogs on the Rushing Rapids Trail near dusk (south side of the river) when he heard some sound like yelping and the lion stepped onto the trail. Bryce held the dogs and then the lion went into the brush. The Fish and Game were going to look into this, as maybe the sound was young lions or maybe the lion’s dinner! Bryce was really scared!

Condolences go out to Tom Crom on the death of his mother Hazel Crom. That’s three mothers that have gone in less than two weeks, (Linda’s and Patty’s) on that small road.

Nicholas Honchariw is suing the county over the rejection of his “Knights Ferry Overlook” subdivision on Cemetery and Frymire Roads. He is asking a judge to overturn the denial.

The Knights Ferry Municipal Advisory Council met last Thursday. Speaking for Stanislaus County was Kristy Amaral who told of the August 7th deadline to turn in applications of candidacy for the two seats on the MAC that are open. California Highway Patrol officer O. Daniels said he would be in the area when school starts so stop at those stop signs. Gary Hayward from Public Works told of cutting trees on Orange Blossom and Sonora and mowing the sides of the road only in the green areas, he does not want to start a fire! Jason Faridi from the U.S. Army Corp told of the trashy river from all the rafters, also some fighting going on at the park. They are pruning trees and checking the tree’s health. The Bureau of Reclamation is surveying the upper river bottom. Jason is also a new dad; his wife Sarah gave birth May 12 to Abigail Hope. Congratulations! Ramon Martin told of the survey of Honolulu Bar and the Lancaster area for the Side Channel Restoration for the salmon. Matt Machado from Public Works talked on the North County Corridor, a route from McHenry Road in Modesto bypassing Oakdale and coming out by Lancaster Road. This would be designated State Route 108. He passed out maps of the study area.

Thursday, August 6th is the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting. It will be a Dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. with Stanislaus County Supervisor Bill O’Brien as the speaker. Good time to ask about the subdivision on Cemetery Road!
