The mountain lion has been sighted on Frymire Road! Michelle Mueller reports her neighbor saw it drinking out of the ditch and lying in the shade. There have been many deer in that part of the neighborhood, good food for the lion. A deer killed by a lion was on the Griesner beach on the river on July 4th. Be aware of your surroundings when outside.

Former Knights Ferry resident Frank Fish passed away July 10th in Jamestown. He and his wife Connie moved to Jamestown 13 years ago from their Morrison Road home. Besides Connie, four children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive Frank. Services were last Saturday.

Welcome to the world Bailey Nicole Ciabatti, born June 29th to Tasha and Kevin. She was welcomed home by big sister Alexa Boyajian. Proud area grandparents are Laura and Eric Ray.

Well the rattlesnake count is increasing at a rapid pace! Mike McPhee killed one, Ken Ritts killed two and Michel Griesner killed two. They were all small and Michel’s were right in her yard. All of these are on the south side of the river, although snakes can swim! Besides looking for the lion keep your eyes out for snakes. When your reporter is outside her eyes scan the area and the ground, hardly leaving time to garden.

Jim and Diane Boyer have returned from their second trip this summer. This time they went to Pennsylvania where they spent a week in the Pocono Mountains. Diane says they are just hills but to the folks back there they are mountains. They enjoyed visiting the little villages and just looking around. The weather was hot but not uncomfortable. They went to Delaware Gap in Bushkill and saw beautiful waterfalls. Motoring down they went to a Coal Mine Festival and went to Jim Thorpe, the town where Jim Thorpe is buried (other towns would not take his body so two towns went together, changed their name and provided a grave for Jim). They drove through the Amish countryside sampling Shoo Fly Pie.

Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania was next, where they spent a week visiting Jim’s relatives and paid a visit to Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, and then flew home.
