The First Grade class at Knights Ferry School celebrated the 100th day of school with 100 things in their collection. Some 100 items were Cheerios, stickers, pictures, and marbles, M&M’s, baby bears, darts, paper clips, Legos, buttons, Gummy Bears, rice, chocolate chips and happy faces.

The California Highway Patrol announced at the MAC meeting that they were going to Community Based Assignments. We should see more officers in the area.

Gayle Lund has returned from Waikiki, Hawaii with her daughter Kerri Visser and granddaughter Tiffany Visser. They were celebrating Tiffany’s graduation and birthdays. It was a fabulous time but Gayle likes Maui better.

Jordan and Alec Ray are recovering from a nasty case of Poison Oak. They were helping gather wood and without leaves, Poison Oak looks just like sticks. Hope the itching stops soon!

Monica Balmanno Nunes and her husband Jake would like to thank all for the good wishes when their daughter, Serenity, underwent heart surgery. Monica graduated from KFS and is active in Orange Blossom 4-H. Serenity is recovering and gaining weight.

The baby salmon are at the U.S. Army Corp center, just ready to exit their alevins stage and become fry. You can see them when the center is open.

The Knights Ferry Creamery and Sweet Shop is open for business! Winter hours are Friday- 12-5 p.m., Saturdays- 8 a.m. to 5p.m., Sundays 12 to 5 p.m. and Federal Holidays 12 to 5 p.m. Come in and meet the new managers and have a treat!

Knights Ferry School Board will meet Thursday, February 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the school. Anyone can attend.

The Ground Hog Dinner was attended by a small number of people but the food was great (Shepherd’s pie) and the White Elephant raffle was a fun time. There were some nice prizes, including the shell wind chimes (again), won by Elmer Raphael. It was a fun evening and it was too bad more people didn’t attend. They missed out!

At the Community Club meeting, the plans for the Spaghetti dinner on March 19 were discussed. That is the Civil War reenactment weekend. There will be no change in price, $7 for adults and $4 for children. Community members are encouraged to donate items for the raffle.

Knights Ferry School 5th–8th graders went to Valley Home School to play basketball and had a good time.
