Christmas Eve there was a large gathering on the outdoor patio of the River’s Edge for the Knights Ferry Community Church’s Christmas Eve service. The Frymire’s lit cross shone down on all. Alex Ray, Jordan Ray, Kylea Coston and Amber Coston played the opening prelude. The church’s Choir, directed by Peggy Van Vliet, sang “Emmanuel, Emmanuel.” Pastor Leverne Tanis welcomed all and led the opening prayer. The Choir then sang “One Still and Silent Night” and Pastor Tanis spoke on “Your Light Has Come.” Peggy Van Vliet then sang “O Holy Night.” The children of the church, in costume, took over the rest of the program, reading verses and lighting the Advent Candles. The audience joined in singing of carols. The Children’s Handbell Choir played “Angle Carol” and 3-year-old Cadance Ryland loved ringing her bell! Everyone’s candle was lit and all processed from the patio to the restaurant for refreshments.

Linda Morris was the recipient of the “Birthday Song” at the 50’s Roadhouse last Wednesday.

There will be a celebration of Eda Mae Sanger’s life on January 9th at the Knights Ferry Community clubhouse from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It will be a champagne dessert, with many pictures and stories of her long life. Eda Mae was a Community Club caller for many years.

Sunday, January 3rd is Breakfast Sunday in the Ferry. Come greet your neighbors and friends for 2010 from 8-noon. Ham, eggs, pancakes, juice and coffee will be served. It is a great way to start a new year!

The meeting of the Knights Ferry Community Club will be Thursday, January 7th at 7:00 p.m. It is a dessert meeting. On the agenda is the “Ground Hog” dinner and White Elephant raffle.

Lee and Mary Sue Shearer had all the children and grandchildren at their ranch Sunday for their Christmas celebration. Jeff and Lisa Shearer came down from Loma Rica, Patti and Andy Sandoval came from Oakdale, Cindy, Neil and Gwyn Davis, and Victoria, Scott, Alex and Claire Krippner and Joselyn Carr, her fiancé Tony Serrano and his daughter Sophia all came from Modesto. It is not often that everyone can be in the same place at the same time!

The clubhouse was jumping before Christmas with 8-10 bands playing good music. Will Taylor organized this and collected old or unused instruments to donate to the public schools.
