At the Knights Ferry School’s Public Schools Night the students that won the essay contest, sponsored by the Summit Lodge #112, Free and Accepted Masons, Knights Ferry, were awarded their prizes. The theme was “Together We Make a Difference in our Public Education.” Sixth Grade first place went to Meghan Caron and she received a $100 U.S. Savings Bond. Second place went to Moriah Loomis and Third place went to Elise Seeds. They each received a $50 U.S. Savings Bond. For Seventh Grade Kaeli Sturtevant won first place, Cleo Wilson won second and Marina Braaton won third. They each get savings bonds as the sixth graders. Eighth Grade first place went to Charissa Humble, second place went to Ashley Caron and third place went to Jordan Haycock. They also received savings bonds as the others. Congratulations!

Condolences go out to the family of Kenneth Crum on his death in March. He was very active in the Odd Fellows and belonged to the Knights Ferry Lodge. Graveside services will be held April 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the La Grange Cemetery.

At the meeting of the Historical and Museum Associates the rapidly approaching Peddlers Faire was discussed. The day is May 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Corp park. There will be food booths, antiques and crafts for your shopping pleasure. This is always a great event and a good place to find just the right “Thing.”

Condolences go out to Leland Rice on the death of his mother Joyce Rice. She had been an Oakdale resident for 49 years.

Gary Shook was the recipient of the “Birthday Song” at the 50’s Roadhouse last Wednesday. Barbara Shook brought a birthday cake for all to enjoy.

Lee and Mary Sue Shearer, in costume, took Agnes Baptist Third Grade Gate Program students on a town tour. They liked being locked in the jail and eating ice cream at the Ice Cream Parlor.

Good Friday services will be held at the Knights Ferry Community Church at 7:00 p.m. On Easter, there will be Sunrise Service at 6:00 a.m. on Frymire Hill and a 9:30 service at the church.

The Knights Ferry School will be holding a Bovine Bingo, talent show and spaghetti dinner on May 11th. If you are interested in buying tickets, it is $20 for the bingo and $5 for adult dinner tickets. Contact the school, 881-3382.
