At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting Seventh Grader Andi Jones gave a power point presentation. The class read “The Giver” and had to interview someone older to get his or her memories. Andi chose her mother, Paige, and showed her presentation to the Board. It was well done and we found out some interesting things about Paige! The Board also changed their meeting date to the second Thursday of the month starting in February. Superintendent/Principal Cheryl Griffiths told of the reduction of aide time to start in March as another way to save money.

Harland Smith spoke on camellias to the Knights Ferry Garden Club. Each member got some seeds to sprout and plant. Teri Foster won the yellow camellia. The meeting was at the home of Carol Davis and she had some blossoms from the old family camellias on the property.

Randy and Beverly Noe enjoyed their winter vacation in Granbury, Texas, visiting Randy’s brother and his family. The weather was cold and snowy but that didn’t stop Randy and Bev from golfing. It was 30 degrees when they were on the links. They also went to Oklahoma City and saw the memorial at the bombsite.

There have been three sightings of the mountain lion. One by an Oakdale Irrigation person working on the canal off Willms Road, one by a worker for Bob Hunter, who got up from his work and was 15 feet away from the lion. It just turned and walked away. The last sighting was by a person traveling on the highway by the Stanislaus-Tuolumne line and the lion was chasing a coyote. Keep alert!

Remember the Ground Hog dinner February 6th. The Knights Ferry Community Club sponsors the no charge dinner with doors opening at 5:30. Bring a dessert A-M or side dish N-Z and whatever you want to drink. Be sure to bring a “White Elephant” to raffle (unwrapped). The raffle last year was a blast!
