The Knights Ferry Community Service District (water) received an information letter from Oakdale Irrigation District on what the State Water Resources Control Board is doing, and that is curtailing senior water rights, now applying to 1903 and up. Knights Ferry water rights are from 1853. If the state decides to curtail ALL pre 1914 water rights that will apply to Knights Ferry. OID may have to cease its diversions from the river and rely on stored water to meet its water demands. Knights Ferry directly has its water from the river. OID says that Knights Ferry never contributed to the development on the water storage facilities and therefore is not entitled to such water. This would mean a cessation of water deliveries to the Ferry! If this comes to pass OID encourages the community to plan on their loss of their water supply and secure backfill supplies if available. Sounds like something needs to be done!

Monica Woods and Melissa Cabral and crew from “Good Morning Sacramento” were in the Ferry on Friday filming two segments for the show. First Monica Woods learned how to paddleboard from River Journey (with a raft of locals in the background) and then Melissa Cabral interviewed Kaeli Sturtevant and her mom Michelle Patton because they were stunt doubles for the movie filmed in the Ferry in April of 2014. Monagram Pictures filmed “Eye Witness” and Lifetime channel bought it. They will probably change the name of the movie. River Journey provided the river safety for the filming. The end of July might be the viewing time but will keep all informed.
