Condolences go out to Joe Murray and family on the death of Joe’s mom, Dorothy Castro Murray. She lived in Livermore and was in the 6th generation of a family who came from Spain to settle in Livermore. She worked the family cattle ranch and showed horses.

The school bells are ringing, OHS starts on the 11th and Knights Ferry starts on the 17th.

Shirley Serpa celebrated her birthday with dinner with her family at the 50’s Roadhouse. Granddaughter Shae Serpa was in attendance and she had won the Girls All Around in the rodeo in Clements.

Alex and Jean Naccarato attended Alex’s 50th high school reunion in Hollister. Then on Saturday they attended a Ranch Rodeo where sons Alex Jr. and Scott participated. Grandsons Wyatt, 14, and Tristan, 10, also participated and they won buckles! Jean said it was great fun watching them. They stayed with Alex Jr. and family in Tres Pinos.

Autumn Davis spent some time with grandmother Carol Davis and enjoyed shopping, baking cookies and seeing cousin Kyla Lewis, who has moved to Oakdale with parents Lisa and Jason.

Bob Brunker, his fiancée Eska and his daughter Nicole visited his sister Leslie Brunker in Portland, Oregon. They enjoyed seeing the Portland Zoo.

Jewls Rosso enjoyed her birthday fishing trip to Markleeville where the group caught 28 German Browns and Rainbow Trout. Yum!

Be sure to get your tickets before August 14th to “Cowboy Up For Hospice” to be held August 21st at the I.O.O.F. Hall on Main Street. Tri tip dinner 4:30 to 6:30, entertainment to follow. There will be cowboy poetry by Ginny Carlson, Ed Brown, Christina Kistler, Tom Gookin, Madison Seamans and others. Country music will be by Rich Price and bluegrass music will be by Fred Stepp and the Stepp Kids. Fred Dolling has tickets for $20 each (881-0440).

Your reporter and hubby Lee were honored to be tour guides for Huell Howser, of “California Gold.” In costume, we followed his direction on what he wanted to film for the show. Getting in on the action was Lynn Duckworth and her dogs Three Toes and Red. They will be in the opening scene. His idea was to be looking for old wood and his hunt took us around town, through the Pecan Grove at the park and ended up at the Covered Bridge. It was really an eye opener on how Huell and his cameraman worked. In the saloon, young Phil Frymire got his hat autographed! Show time will be announced.
