The 5th and 6th graders at Knights Ferry School went to San Francisco to the DeYoung Museum to view the King Tut Exhibit last Wednesday. It was an exceptional exhibit and great weather.

Knights Ferry Garden Club met last Wednesday and Angela Cardoza from P and L Concrete Nursery in Escalon gave a demonstration of flowerpot stacking and planting. It was something all wanted to go home and try. It was good to see Bev Hay out and about after her battle with pneumonia.

Flocks of Sandhill Cranes have been flying North from their Winter quarters. The V formation and their shrill voice heralds Spring.

At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting, Bev Noe reported that 11 children have signed up for Kindergarten.

There was a large crowd at the 8th annual Benny’s Ball Feed Saturday. The tables were loaded with appetizers, desserts and side dishes, as well as Ben’s pasta and the “Balls.” Ben and Linda want to thank all who brought food, the set-up and decorating people, the “shuckers,” those that helped cook, serve and clean up. It was also really nice that Mother Nature made the entire town sparkle then turn into a beautiful sunny day.
Neither rain, or sleet or snow or dark of night kept the “Bridge Runners” from their appointed run. Yes, tradition continues in the Ferry. Had some new runners this year. Heard a rumor someone fell while running hand in hand. Hope they didn’t get any splinters!

This weekend the town will be alive with soldiers from the North and South. The first battle on Saturday will be at 1:00 p.m. and then one at 4:00 p.m. The camps will be open during the non-battle times to get an idea of how life was for the soldiers. Sunday’s battles are at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Community Club will hold a spaghetti dinner at 5:00 p.m., after the battle. Tickets ($7.00 adults, $4.00 children) can be purchased at the door. Also there is a raffle with many great prizes.
