Fred and Lisa Dolling shared all the details of their trip to Pasadena to build the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Rose Parade Float at the Community Club meeting. Fred and Lisa worked with other Odd Fellows and Rebekahs for almost a week to create the float made mostly of flowers and greenery. The float was titled “All We Need is Love” and featured three colorful unicorns surrounded with large flowers. The best part of the float was seeing Fred riding on the float and waving to the crowd!

The Community Club meeting was last Thursday. Carol Davis shared a file full of articles and documents regarding the rebuilding of the Hook and Ladder building. The Community Club housed the Hook and Ladder trailer after the 1955 flood damaged the Hook and Ladder building. The community members raised money and donated time and energy to rebuild the Hook and Ladder building. It took nearly 20 years to complete the building!

As I was walking around town last week, I was feeling grateful for Knights Ferry and the effort to remember our community members. Around town there are small tokens of respect to community members who have passed away. There is a Garden Club memorial stone that has many of the Club members who have passed away etched into the stone and there are black memorial plaques with loved one’s names in gold lettering on the Church fence. At the school there is a beautiful bench purchased in memory of a young student named Ryan. There are many more around town, in restaurants, and even on buildings. Take a walk around town and see if you can find them all!
