Student artwork was recently chosen for inclusion in the Stanislaus River Salmon Festival 2016 Calendar. Local students in kindergarten through eighth grades were invited to submit work through their teachers and the calendar covers November 2015 through January 2017.

The contest was open to kindergarten through eighth grade students that live in communities along the lower Stanislaus River: Knights Ferry, Oakdale, Valley Home, Riverbank, Escalon and Salida. Students whose artwork was chosen for the calendar were from schools in Knights Ferry, Oakdale, Valley Home, and Riverbank; artwork is also accepted from children that are home-schooled.

Students whose artwork was chosen for inclusion in the Stanislaus River Salmon Festival 2016 were recognized and awarded prizes during the Salmon Festival held at the Stanislaus River Park in Knights Ferry on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015.

Cover Artist selected was fifth grader Taylor Herndon of Sierra View Elementary School in Oakdale, with teacher Ms. Alvey.
