As they have for nearly three decades, the Oakdale Lions Club – recent winners of the Chamber of Commerce’s Community Service Award for 2019 – is once again putting on the Don Osborne Memorial Run. The annual event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 1 and is a ‘rain or shine’ event.

This year marks the 28th annual run, with both a 5k and a one-mile run/walk offered.

Often referred to as the ‘Run for the Library,’ the Don Osborne Memorial Run begins at the Oakdale Library, corner of G Street and South First Avenue. Both courses cover flat, paved city streets and traffic control is provided.

Race day and online registration is available, cost is $25 for children and adults; those under nine run for free.

Checks can be made payable to Oakdale Lions Club and mailed to the club at P.O. Box 550, Oakdale, CA 95361.

There are gift certificates presented to the overall male and female winners in both races, medals for the top three finishers in each age division for both races, with light refreshments, fruit and juice available to all participants.

The one-mile age categories include 5 and under, 6 to 9; 10 to 12; 13 to 15; 16 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 to 79; and 80-plus.
