Garden Club Plans Meeting

Members of the Escalon Farmington Garden Club will gather for the first session of their new year on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. The meeting is scheduled at the United Methodist Church meeting hall at 25626 Elm St., Farmington. Saturday CVCR Fundraiser

Central Valley Community Resources (CVCR) is hosting an ‘Oldies But Goodies’ fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Escalon Sportsmen’s Club, with a variety of events scheduled for the afternoon and evening. The car, truck, motorcycle, and custom bicycle show will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; there will be a no host bar from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and a dance starts at 6 p.m. and is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Doors open at 3 p.m. and there will prizes awarded for the best costume and best dressed couple as guests are encouraged to dress in ‘50s era attire. There will be BBQ tri-tip and chicken sandwiches available for $10. All funds raised at the event will be used for the Temporary Housing Program and Foster Care at risk young adults ages 18-21.

 

Food Sharing Spaghetti Dinner

Riverbank Christian Food Sharing is putting on its annual Spaghetti Dinner, set for Saturday, Oct. 2. The event will be a ‘drive thru’ dinner, running from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and you pay when you pick up dinner. The drive thru meal can be picked up at the back of the Riverbank Community Center at 3600 Santa Fe anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on that Saturday. Proceeds help the Food Sharing organization keep the shelves stocked for those in the local area in need of emergency food supplies.

 

Weight Loss Group

All interested are welcome to join TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) a weight support group that meets in Oakdale every Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church on Poplar. This group is open to the public and anyone interested in improving their life by losing weight can contact Audrey for more information, call 209-765-7838.
