As the seasons begin to shift, it’s the perfect time to clean out those closets for a good cause. The Oakdale Enrichment Society (OES) is calling on the community to donate gently used clothing in support of its eighth annual Community Clothing Drive. The clothing distribution will be happening Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Community Center at 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale.
The event, known as the Community Closet, functions as an “open wardrobe” for local families – offering free school clothes, cold-weather gear, and everyday essentials to those in need.
“Our Community Closet event is like an open wardrobe, helping countless community members gear up with school outfits, cozy gear for the chilly season, and much more,” OES stated in event materials.
Prep week for donations and volunteer opportunities runs Aug. 18 through 21, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the same location.
