As you cruise into the Cowboy Capital of the World, the Belmare Senior Living facility is both prominent and impressive, situated on the north side of West F Street, and Belmare has now added a memory care facility to its list of specialty centers. Belmare opened the doors to its Memory Care Center in early March and has already welcomed some residents. During the facility’s grand opening celebration, which occurred earlier this month, Pat Corrigan and some of his family members, owners of Belmare Senior Living, were honored with a ribbon cutting put on by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce.
“We built it with a relative in mind and we wanted everything to be special. We wanted it to feel like home,” said Corrigan when expressing his gratitude to the staff members along with the residents of Belmare.
Cynthia Villalovoz, Sales and Marketing Director at Belmare, noted that the addition of the new memory care facility would not be possible without all of the support from ownership and the dedicated employees that make Belmare such a desirable place to live.
“We have longevity of staff here and it shows,” Villalovoz said when speaking about the commitment that staff members demonstrate on a daily basis. Out of the 126 housing units that include Independent Living, Assisted Living and now Memory Care, the memory care facility can accommodate up to 42 residents. Housing within the memory care facility includes private as well as shared rooms, depending on the resident’s needs.
Lacy Vincent, Executive Director of Belmare Senior Living noted that, “Our mission is to serve, support and uplift those in need and every resident here is surrounded by caregivers that know their stories and care about them.”
Leading a tour on site, Villalovoz pointed out some of the areas that were designed very thoughtfully with the residents in mind such as the enclosed courtyards which offer safety as well as outdoor activities including a small putting green and birdhouses to enjoy feathered friends while visiting with loved ones.
“The Activities Team goes above and beyond to engage with our residents,” said Villalovoz when noting the various activities that Belmare provides.
Among the other fun additions there was a claw machine filled with prizes and an Obie, a cutting edge technological device which uses a projector and motion sensors to turn an ordinary tabletop into an extraordinary gaming experience. Obie features all sorts of games including Bingo, Mah Jong, puzzles and many more. Residents can sit down and play interactive games with their friends while also stimulating their brains and utilizing their cognitive abilities.
