BIRD ISLAND The popular app Angry Birds has been downloaded on virtually every phone on the planet and now the disgruntled fowls are headed for the big screen.

Sony Pictures released the first teaser trailer for the film and despite my initial annoyance that this is now a movie I must admit, I enjoyed the two-and-a-half minute preview.

Still not sure what the premise is exactly, but I think we're all smart enough to figure it out. It appears the bird Red has some anger issues and is trying to control it while fitting in with his perching peers. Then the pigs show up. It would appear they want to overrun these strange birds and I'd bet they do exactly that by stealing their eggs. Enter some flying weapons in an attempt to get their property back.

This movie isn't going to be the most original thing you see in 2016, but my guess is it's going to be a fun time at the theater.

Maybe the idea of this movie doesn't have you excited, but the voice cast alone makes it at least worth a second thought.

Leading the cast is SNL alum Jason Sudeikis as Red. Then add in the voice of Olaf himself, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Peter Dinklage and the one and only Bill Hader and you've got one of my favorite ensemble casts of the forecasted 2016 movie season.

Whether you are looking forward to it or not, "Angry Birds" will fly into theaters May 20, 2016.
