SRT Presents A Tribute To Linda Ronstadt
SRT

SONORA – Sierra Rep continues its 40th Anniversary season with the return of its Cabaret Series.

The program began last year with Night of a Thousand Stars: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Award Winners: Winning Music from Broadway and Hollywood.

On Friday, Aug. 9, SRT opens its newest cabaret production A Tribute to Linda Ronstadt. Linda Ronstadt had a sparkling and unbelievable versatile voice that expanded from her country- and folk-rock roots to cover nearly every genre imaginable. A perfectionist and true master of her craft, she never met a song she couldn’t interpret.

Nearly 20 years after she became eligible, Linda Ronstadt was finally nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was elected on the first ballot. To discuss her remarkable music career would be to place equal emphasis on all the kinds of music she has sung, from folk and folk rock, to country and country rock, to pop rock and hard rock, to Gilbert and Sullivan and Puccini, to American songbook standards, to Mexican ranchera, to Afro-Cuban, to jazz. SRT favorite Yesenia McNett (Always, Patsy Cline) will be the vocalist to bring Ronstadt’s incredible songbook to life in Sonora. She will be backed by Jim Welch (music director/pianist), John Binkley (bassist), Kurt Nicholls (percussion), Bill Caisse (guitar). Becky Saunders will be providing back-up vocals. Audiences will hear one powerhouse number after another in this 90-minute show, including: “Blue Bayou”, “Somewhere Out There”, “You’re No Good”, “Desperado”, “Back in the USA” and many more.

A Tribute to Linda Ronstadt plays two weekends only, Aug. 9, 10, 11 and Aug. 16, 17 and 18 in The Annex at the East Sonora Theatre, 13891 Mono Way, Sonora. Beer and wine will be available for purchase for you to enjoy during the performances that are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. as well as Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. General seating. Doors open 45 minutes before each performance.
