Fall String Recital

Modesto Junior College will offer a Fall String Recital on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall – Music 108 on the East Campus. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted.

The students of Anne Martin, Director of Orchestra and Strings at MJC, will perform solo works by Bartok, Bohm, Corelli, Dancla, Hoffmeister, Mozart, and Saint-Saens. The program opens with the Elementary Strings Class playing the Indian Lament, Can Can, and Boil that Cabbage Down.

The String Orchestra will present works by Handel, Morley, and Newbold. The group will also perform an energetic version of the famous Italian Song, Finiculi, Funicula. Trumpet players, Angela Lopez-Salazar and Rick Ortega will join the String Orchestra to perform The Polka de San Antonio.

The recital will conclude with Manuel Manriquez, violin, performing the Vitaly Chaconne and Anthony Houth playing the Saint Saens Cello Concerto no. 1 in A Minor. Pianist, Yan Yan Chan, DMA, will accompany the students.
