Hallums Celebrate 60 Years Together

Archie and Barbara Hallum of Oakdale celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 21, 2009. The couple wed in 1949 at Glad Tiding Church in Reno, Nevada.
First introduced to each other in Tracy, Mr. Hallum was in the Navy and the future Mrs. Hallum was attending Tracy High School. They met through good friends.
The couple first moved to Oakdale in 1958. During that time Mr. Hallum was the General Manager for Williams Hatchery and Turkey Breeding Farms. Eventually the couple left Oakdale for Longmont, Colorado where he was General Manager of Longmont Foods. Mr. Hallum has also served in the United States Navy. Mrs. Hallum was born in Oakdale and spent most of her adult life as a homemaker caring for the couple’s four children, all of whom attended elementary and high school here.
After leaving Colorado to come back to Oakdale, the Hallums have lived here for the past 17 years.
Their four children are: Lonney Hallum and wife Lynn of Modesto, Linda Hallum Shafer and husband Lee of Modesto, Kathy Hallum Texeira and husband Larry of Waterford and Nancy Hallum Bowen and husband Jim of Oakdale.
They have eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
