Making a weekend splash, the varsity water polo boys from Oakdale won the Silver Division of the Delong Tournament, playing both Friday and Saturday.

“We defeated Grace Davis 18-4 and Pitman 14-6 on Friday at Oakdale,” said coach Savannah Martin. “Then at Downey on Saturday, we defeated Vintage 10-6 and Ponderosa 14-6.”

Leading the way were Ethan Perry and Lorenzo Klose, who each scored four goals in the final game. Their efforts were supported with two goals from Chandler Neal and David Terwilliger, and one each from Stash Perry and Jude Krick.

Earlier action saw the boys in the pool at the Oakdale Aquatic Center.

“We defeated Lodi 12-10 at home. That is a Division 1 team, and we expect to play Division 3 this year in playoffs,” Martin said of the big win on Oct. 16. “Against Lodi, Stash Perry led the team with five goals.”

Terwilliger and Ethan Perry had two each with Neal, Klose and Kyle McIntosh scoring one goal apiece.

“Our boys are currently undefeated in our league and just need to play everyone again,” said Martin.

This week, they were scheduled to play at Sierra on Monday and at Central Catholic on Wednesday.

“Then, our Senior Night will be the following week on October 30 against Ripon at home,” Martin added.

There will also be a Frosh-Soph tournament this weekend hosted at the aquatic center on the OHS campus.
