Varsity Volleyball Girls Win, Lose League Matches

Recent action on the court saw Oakdale’s varsity volleyball girls fall to Central Catholic but win against Sierra.

They took on the Lady Raiders on Sept. 24, falling 17-25, 22-25, 22-25.

Emma Harper had 15 kills while Breelie Gibson added 15 assists. Kenadie Patterson notched three blocks and Kailee Whorton was credited with 15 digs.

Taking on Sierra in action Tuesday, Oct. 1 the Lady Mustangs earned the win with a sweep. The 3-0 victory saw them take down Sierra in 25-14, 25-16, 25-12 fashion.

Harper had six aces, nine kills and 20 assists to lead the team. Abby Cogburn and Bella Cormack each had seven kills; Patterson and Tayler Lamb had eight.

Patterson also added two blocks while Gibson notched 13 assists. Whorton had 17 digs on the night, Kayci Morris had 12.

JV action against Central Catholic saw Oakdale fall 2-1, with scores of 21-25, 25-17, 14-16. Taking on Sierra, the JV girls bounced back to win 2-0, sweeping Sierra 25-17, 25-20.

The freshmen had a strong two games, defeating Central Catholic 25-22, 25-22 and also shutting down Sierra, 2-0, with scores of 25-22, 25-12.
