Varsity Baseball Mustangs Swept By Central Catholic

Oakdale High School’s varsity baseball team suffered a pair of losses to Central Catholic this past week. On Wednesday, May 1 the boys were blanked 4-0 by the Raiders, the first time Oakdale was shut out at home this season.

In the loss, Oakdale gave up two runs in the first inning. Brett Maddock started the game for Oakdale and pitched five innings, surrendering 10 hits, issuing five walks and allowing three runs. Marcus Juarez entered the game in relief of Maddock and gave up five hits and one run. The Mustangs had four total hits in the game, two from Austin Meeks and one each from Hayden Knittel and Jacob Solorio.

Friday night the boys lost in extra innings to the Raider 3-2. Down 1-0 in the first, Oakdale took a 2-1 lead in the third inning. Central Catholic tied the game in the bottom of the sixth and scored a run in the eighth to complete the season sweep over the Mustangs.

Alex Daoud and Maddock each had an RBI in the road loss. Max Moore had the team’s only extra base hit with a double. Josh Garcia pitched a complete game giving up six hits, three runs, only one earned, and striking out six.

Oakdale bounced back with wins over Kimball to wrap up the regular season. 

 

JUNIOR VARSITY

Oakdale split with the Raiders as they lost to Central Catholic 7-5 on Wednesday, May 1 but bounced back with a 16-2 road win on Friday. Oakdale clinched the VOL with wins over Kimball.
