OHS Hoop Honors

Two Oakdale High School varsity boy’s basketball players earned recognition from their peers. The Valley Oak League awards were handed out and Mustang players Jonah Norman and Nathan Criswell were recognized. Norman was an Honorable Mention and led the Oakdale varsity team in points this season. “It’s cool to be named on the Honorable Mention list,” said Norman.

Criswell made the All-Defensive VOL Honorable Mention List. “It’s an honor to be recognized. I tried my hardest each game to help my teammates and at the same time, make it difficult for the other teams,” he said. Criswell started in all but one game as the team’s center/power forward.

Chappell Takes Second

OHS senior Ben Chappell competed in the Simplot Games at Pocatello, Idaho recently. Chappell competed in the hammer throw event and placed second overall. He threw for 22 meters (72’2.25”).

“When I threw it, the competition was still going on so I could not get wrapped up in the feeling. It was not until the end of the event I enjoyed the accomplishment,” said Chappell. He is now ranked ninth in the country in hammer throw. “I am proud of my accomplishments and to be ranked in the top ten is amazing.” There were over a dozen competitors in the event.
